Summer Workshop

Ballet: June 20^th – June 23^rd

We are fortunate to have Colleen Benoit return this summer. Colleen has performed with Lake Charles Ballet Society's Ballet Joyeaux for over 25 years. She has studied at the School of the American Ballet for New York City Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Joffrey Ballet San Antonio Summer Workshop. Colleen is opening her own ballet studio in Lake Charles this year. We wish her the best of luck! Register early to guarantee your spot!

5:30 – 6:30 Beg/Int 8 to 11 year olds $40

6:30 – 7:45 Int/Adv 12 and over (bring pointe shoes if already in pointe) $50

Jazz - Hip Hop: July 5^th – 8^th

Hollywood choreographer, Ginger Broussard, will offer jazz and hip hop classes this summer at CKDA. Ginger has danced for over 29 years, studying ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical and musical theatre. Before moving to Los Angeles, Ginger spent five years as the owner and director of Company One Dance Studio in Baton Rouge, La. In 1998 Ginger became the coach and choreographer for the Louisiana State University Tiger Girls, where, in her first year, they won the Universal Dance Association National Championship.

6:45 - 7:45PM Beg/Int Ages 8 to 11 (min 2 years jazz or hip hop) $40

7:45 - 9:15PM Int/Adv Ages 12 and up (min 5 years jazz or hip hop) $55

PreK/ Kinder: July 25^th – July 28^th

This class is for 3, 4 and 5 year olds and will offer beginning jazz, ballet and acrobatic skills. The class will be held Monday – Thursday from 5:45 to 6:30 PM. This is a great, fun way to introduce your child to dance classes for the first time, or to freshen up skills learned in a previous prek class. The class is $35 and will be taught by our own Brittni Conrad who has a degree in elementary education and has taught dance with us for many years.

CHEER / TUMBLING – July 13, 15, 20, 22 – Session 1 Aug 3, 5, 10, 12 – Session 2

The classes will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 PM on Wednesday and Friday as noted above. Each 4-class-session is $40. Jaime Spears will be teaching these classes with an emphasis on cheerleading skills. Jaime has taught baton, acrobatics and cheerleading for 14 years. Anyone enrolling in both sessions will receive a 15% discount on the second session.

July 18 – 21: Mini Camp for 1^st – 5^th Grade. Jazz/Hip Hop/ Ballet / Lyrical-Contemporary / Pom $50 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Taught by Traci Kurth and Ashley Johnson.

BOYS HIP HOP: June 27 – 30 5:30 – 6:30 PM $25 Matt DeVille will offer a boys’ hip hop class this summer. Matt taught hip hop classes at our studio last year and has his own “crew”. He will teach at CKDA as well as at the Lake Charles Dance Academy next year.

Dance Team Prep & Tryouts: August 1^st – 4^th

This class is designed to help those dancers interested in auditioning for our competitive dance teams. The class will expose the child to the skills she will need for the audition and help her/him understand what will be expected should he/she be selected. This class IS NOT required to audition.

August 1^st – 4^th: Prep Class - 5:30 – 6:45 $50 (does not include the audition fee)

AUDITIONS: August 4^th at 7:30 PM following the last day of prep class. Auditions - $10

Fall Registration: Returning students may register at any time beginning June 1st. OPEN REGISTRATION for new students begins July 12th and is held each Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. We have had waiting lists every year for the past 5 years so please register early!

**Only classes with sufficient enrollment will be held. Please sign up in advance for this reason. All students seriously interested in dance and wishing to keep their skills and flexibility up during the summer should enroll in all of the summer classes that they can. These classes will help prepare them for team dancing. Ballet is of the utmost importance and is required for team members. If you are in town please enroll your child in the summer workshops.
