Hello Beautiful, and greetings from the MB Harvest Festival. We are really excited to announce and invite you to our festival. The festival is to be held November 16-18, at the Moss Bluff VFW on Hwy. 171 North.

On behalf of the MB Harvest Festival, we hereby solicit a CONTESTANT for the

MB Harvest Festival Queen’s Contest. To be held Thursday, November 16, 2006,at 7:00p.m.

The contestant must be a resident of Louisiana and must not be nor have been married, nor be a mother. She must be 18 years of age on or before November 16, 2006, and not older than 23 years of age.

This young lady must not be serving as the queen of any festival, fair, parish or statewide organization. She must make her own arrangements for travel to and from Moss Bluff and agree to arrive in Moss Bluff on Thursday, November 16, dressed and ready for interview NO LATER than 2:15 pm. NO EXCEPTIIONS! Interviews will begin promptly at 3:00pm. and will be held at the Moss Bluff Public Library 261 Parish Rd.

Enclosed is an entry form for the 2006 Queen Pageant to be returned to us as soon as possible with the $75.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE) entry fee and a head/shoulder photograph, either black and white or colored, and no larger than a 5x7. This form will not be complete without entry fee and photo.

We appreciate your consideration of our pageant. And if you choose not to participate in the pageant, please feel free to come and join the fun at our festival.

GUIDELINES FOR THE HAVEST FESTIVAL QUEEN

The MB Festival Harvest Queen agrees to remain single until the termination of her one-year reign. She must further agree not to take part in any contest during her reign, except for the Queen of Queens. It is understood that she will be expected to make in and out of state trips to promote MB Harvest Festival as directed by the MB Harvest Festival Committee. She will receive no salary for such travel, but her authorized expenses will be paid.

AUTHORIZED TRIPS FOR MB HARVEST FESTIVAL QUEEN

The following are festivals in the state for which the MBM Harvest Festival Queen is required to attend. She is encouraged to attend all other festivals for which the queen receives invitations. The festivals are: Cal-Cam Fair/Sulphur, Railroad/DeQuincy, Frog/Rayne, Family, Food, and Fun/Westlake, Cajun Music Festival/Lake Charles, Mayhaw/Starks, Raylane/Rayne, La. Cattle/Abbeyville, Mardi Gras/Lake Charles, Sulphur Heritage/Sulphur, Ragley Heritage and Timber/Ragley, La. Please check with the coordinator for other festivals and dates. This is open for change. But we would like you to travel to at least 12 events in your year as Queen.

A cash scholarship for attending the required festivals will be the total commitment of the MB Harvest Festival. This amount will be paid at the end of her reign. The queen is required to turn in receipts and expenses for traveling to and from required festivals, or send a letter stating what activities have been done that month for the betterment of the MB Harvest Festival.

The MB Harvest Festival Committee must approve all invitations for appearances by the MB Harvest Queen. Commercial invitations are usually accepted. Political invitations are not acceptable. The MB Harvest Festival Committee makes the final decision. If requested by the MB Harvest Festival Committee to make a special appearance on behalf of the MB Harvest Festival- the MB Harvest Festival will pay the queens expenses.

The MB Harvest Festival will provide the queen with 100 business cards and pay for a sitting fee for her official photograph, and One (8x10) color photograph to be displayed at the MB Harvest Festival and to be kept on file for other displays.

During her reign, the custom crown and formal banner are to be worn only when required to be in "full attire". Same goes for the train and mantle. There will be a crown box (given back at the end of her reign) provided by the MB Harvest Festival, for the custom crown to be transported. If the queen wishes to have a play banner, she may purchase one herself, but must be approved by the MB Harvest Festival Committee. The MB Harvest Festival will pay for no other expenses incurred, other than those provided for in these guidelines.

The MB Harvest Festival Queen will also be responsible for the train and mantle. If there is damage of any kind the Queen will replace the train and mantle at replacement cost.

QUEEN’S PAGEANT-RULES AND REGULATIONS 2006

The contestant must be a resident of Louisiana. She must not be or nor have been married, nor be a mother. She must be 18 years of age, on or before November 16, 2006, and not older than 23 years of age.

The contestant must not be serving as the queen of any festival, fair, parish or statewide organization, or commercial enterprise. However, should she relinquish her crown prior to MB Harvest Queen Contest, she will be eligible to participate in the MB Harvest Queen Contest.

The contestant must make her own arrangements for travel to and from Moss Bluff and agree to arrive in Moss Bluff on Thursday, November 16,2006. Registration begins at 2:15pm. And interviews start promptly at 3:00pm. SHE MUST AGREE TO REMAIN IN MOSS BLUFF AND PARTICIPATE IN ALL PLANNED ACTIVITIES.

While in Moss Bluff, the contestant will be the guest of MBHF. The MBHF will not be responsible for any expenses of any one accompanying the contestant.

While the contestant is under the jurisdiction of the MBHF, she will be expected to abide by certain rules of conduct. The hostesses have been instructed to report any violations of these rules to the MBHF office and the contestant will be sent home and the sponsoring organization and/or guardian will be notified.

The contestant will be judged in two (2) categories:

Interview (Suit or Dress) Coronation (Evening Gown-contestants choice of color and on stage question.)

The contestant will be scored as follows:

Phase I (100 points) Phase II (50 points) Phase III( 50 points)

8. The judges will select three (3) alternates to replace the queen in succession should the queen not be

able to complete her one-year reign for any reason. The decision of the judges will be FINAL.

9. If chosen queen she must agree to remain single until the termination of her one-

year reign. She must further agree not to take part in any contest during her reign, with the exception of Queen of Queens contest. She must also uphold the highest moral and ethical standards subject to the review and approval of the MB Harvest Festival Board of Directors. Failure to adhere to these Rules and Regulations could lead to the revocation of crown and title, whereby the 1st. alternate would become MB Harvest Festival Queen.

10. It is understood that she will be expected to make in and out of state trips to

Promote MB Harvest Festival, as directed by the MBHF committee. She will receive no salary for such travel and must stay in contact with MBHF director/coordinator throughout her year for guidance and assignments.

11. If chosen queen, she will wear the MB Harvest Festival custom crown

throughout her reign. There will be a custom box (to be given back) to transport the crown in. She will be responsible for any lost or broken stones, or damage to the crown.

12. If chosen Queen of Queens, her primary title and responsibilities will be with the

MB Harvest Festival. The Queen of Queens title will be secondary to the MB Harvest Festival Title. This is a lot to ask of anyone for a year, but we at the MB Harvest Festival promise to make this a year she will never forget.

Moss Bluff Harvest Festival T- Shirt Order Form

We are offering the 2006 Moss Bluff Harvest Festival T-Shirt to contestants at a discount price reserved only by order. The shirt is available in Youth sizes of XS, S, M, and L, for $6.00. Adult sizes of S, M, L, and XL for $8.00. Festival t-shirts at the festival will be $10 for youth and $12.00 for adult. Shirts sizes 2X to 3X are more expensive.

QUEENS—Beautiful crown, Deluxe Banner, Rhinestone Pin, Festival t-shirt,

First, Second, Third Alternates and Photogenic winner will receive banners. Teen and Jr. Miss receive all the above including a custom banner.

MISS QUEEN-Receives a custom made train and mantle, (to be returned )custom crown, custom crown box,(to be returned), custom banner, scepter, rhinestone pin, festival t-shirt, 100 business cards, 1 8x10 color photograph and paid sitting fee, cash scholarship, LAFF fees for state convention will be paid.

Additional awards will be given at no extra charge, Best Fashion, Prettiest Hair, Smile, and Eyes.

Score sheets will not be posted. If you wish to receive a copy of your scores/judges comments, please include a stamped self addressed envelope and $2.00 with you entry fee & form. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your scores. Numbers will be assigned in random order.

All queens will be presented and an official photo will be taken at the festival Saturday, November 18, at 3:00 pm. Queen’s are asked to ride in the Moss Bluff Christmas Parade. Entry fees for Baby Miss- Jr. Miss $50.00 +$2. for scores. Make checks payable to MB Harvest Festival. May be mailed to Caran Shaheen P.O. Box 892 DeQuincy La. 70633. Deadline for entries is Friday, November 17,2006, for Junior Queens ages (0-11 years old) and Wednesday, November 15,2006 for Queens contest ages( 12-23 years old). Entries will be accepted at the door with an additional charge of $10.00. Cash only.

Photogenic Competition: Please turn in pictures at registration the day of pageant. One (1) photo no larger than 5x7, black and white or color unframed photo. Please put name on back of photo. Pick up photo after pageant.

There will be a photographer on hand to take pictures. Pictures will be sold at contestant’s expense and is not in conjunction with the festival.
